Convincing portrayal of a quintessential American female?

So last night I caught a re-run of the show "Punk'd". For those of you who do not know what this show is about, I insist that you try to catch an episode or two. Basically, the ever so brilliant (or not so brilliant) Ashton Kutcher plays very good practical jokes on various A list celebs. He hires several people to execute these vicious plans (including those who are close to the celeb). I must say - it is quite entertaining to see these people squirm, get irate or scream louder and more convincingly than they did in their last box office Horror film.

Well last night they featured Meredith Pompeo. The All-American looking female who plays Meredith Grey on the hit "Grey's Anatomy". (Which I love by the way.)

At first glance..she looks like a passive soft-spoken atypical beauty. On the show, she wins the hearts of viewers with her soft voice, relatable ways and genuinity.

However - after being featured on Punk'd...one can only be convinced of how great of an actor she really is. This particular episode enabled fans of Grey's Anatomy (G.A. from hence forward) to see the real Ellen Pompeo - and my my, was it not appealing; actually shocking is a better word to describe it. I absolutely love her...or did. In fact - I'm in a bit of denial about her real personality. The plot was like this: Ellen and her (not so cute) boyfriend go to a nice restaurant in which the attractive waitress shows a little more attention to her boyfriend than the average waitress usually does. It wasn't over-the-top attention by any means, but definitely just enough to notice.

Instead of Ellen getting slightly bothered and jealous - she turns morbid and vicious. While smiling sweetly to the waitresses face, she evily speaks of how she wants to stab the server and see her makeup and blood mesh together on the ground. (WHAAAA???) I mean, she didn't say it in a loud furious tone. No. She said it with a smirk on her face....stating her desires with a soft voice and an evil giggle following shortly thereafter.

Creepy.

What happened to the image we all had of this actress? I pinned her as America's Sweetheart! Really!

Oh, and not to mention her accent. It was heinous. Nothing sweet and innocent like the one we hear narrating G.A. It was a mix of a Brooklyn/Boston accent, with a touch of trash.

I'm shocked and saddened. I mean, kudos for being an amazing actress who can pull off such a role that appeals to the masses, but I believe she lost a lot of fans in the midst of this "Punk'd" ordeal.

Oh dear. Another one bites the dust.

I guess that's what Hollywood is all about? I suppose I'll see first-hand when I get there.
